Microsoft Dynamics AX 2009 client installation fails
Summary
Not able to install Dynamics AX 2009 client on some Windows 7 machines. You will see error simillar to this in the DynamicsSetupLog file -
RegAsm : error RA0000 : Could not load file or assembly 'System.Design, Version=4.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b03f5f7f11d50a3a' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified.
>>Install: During Setup of an error occurred. Program run: C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v4.0.30319\regasm.exe. Parameters: C:\Program Files\Microsoft Dynamics AX\Common\MindKeyGroup.MindKey.Wheel.dll /unregister

Cause:
Only the Microsoft .NET Framework 4 Client Profile is installed on the workstation. This is an optional update that is now available through Windows Update (KB982670). If you only have this installed you will NOT be able to install the AX 2009 client.
Resolution:
1. Uninstall Microsoft .NET Framework 4 Client Profile then install AX 2009 client. You may then re-apply

OR
2. Install
Microsoft .NET Framework 4 also then install AX 2009.
